Hi Folks
Really struggling to get hold of a copy. Does anyone have a copy to sell.
The only one i've been able to find is from the NSS which is ?30 including shipping. I'm planning on going for this but i thought i'd try here first.

I may be able to help. I have just checked as I had a feeling I had two copies and I had! I originally bought a paperback edition printed in the US and published in GB by the Mendip Press in Wells. I bought it in the early 80's and found the description so good that I used it to guide us  from the Trou de Glaz to the Guiers Mort on our first trip into the cave. Later we did the horizontal trip from the Trou de Glaz. So it is yours for tenner plus however much it costs to post it. Somerset is a bit closer than NZ too. PM me if you are interested. When I looked upstairs the other copy is a UK hardback first edition (clearly not a first edition as that was in French. I am not really a book collector but if I see a caving book I usually buy it.

Give it try here

You may need to contact them because in the online shop the book is not listed (not in english nor in french)

As soon as you buy one it will appear cheaper & more conveniently.... (NZ one is only ?7.50, it's almost all postage)

mrodoc's offer at ?10 seems pretty reasonable. I doubt you'll do better than that.

If you ever decide to get rid of your hardback copy mrodoc, I'd be interested. I've got rather a scruffy paperback (though it 's still a great read!)

I have a spare HB copy here of mine, which you can have pretty much for the cost to post it to you. But I don't want to interfere with MRODoc's transaction, if he wants first dibs on shifting his!

PM me if interested - also MRODoc if you have strong feelings either way. (I'm just trying to help.)

. . . which might even be caver post if that's viable currently, or if you can wait until we're all able to move about a bit more easily. Best PM me free2cave (as long as MRODoc's OK with my jumping in on the back of his arrangement).

If there is a spare copy left over at the end of this discussion then I too have been trying to get hold of one for a while. Some of the prices on offer were eyewatering. I would be delighted with a hardback or paperback and am happy to pay postage etc. Many thanks MD

No problem - if my spare ends up spare, you're welcome to it. If it ends up caver posted you might like to consider a miniscule donation to the NPC's Library Extension Fund in return for the help of whoever is kind enough to deliver for you. But if it gets posted via Royal Mail, just pay for that and we'll call it quits.

(Those who know me will tell you I tend not to look on such things as having monetary value; I just like to see items going to people who will appreciate them but might not be able to afford them otherwise.)

Anyway, sort it out between you fellas and I'll stand by for a PM from someone in due course.

Thanks Mike - that sounds convenient. But from a PM I just had from the OP it looks like, happily,  he's got sorted via MRODoc.

So - Mr Dinwiddy; if you want to send me a PM I'll try to help you. (If you do please tell me an email address to use.)

I  seem to have got involved in a bidding war! The OP is the one I offered to sell it to and he has agreed the price. Thank you all for your interest. By the way I have duplicates of several other caving books if anybody is interested. When my father died I inherited his.

Got it - yes, I can let you have the book. Have just emailed you.

MRODoc - apologies for the "bidding war" (not intended, honest!) but it all seems to have sorted itself out satisfactorily in the end.

Pitlamp, I was just amused how quickly things escalated from no  interest to 'I want a copy too!' :)
