6 P bolts in Yordas Gorge

I did the scramble to other day and found a row of 6 P Bolts very close together at chest height on the flat river bed. Who, What, Why? I'm a bit baffled, it it some sort of traverse line training for groups?

Don't quote me - been told they are part of the testing and monitoring regime.

the P bolts - obviously .

Presumably they are pull tested at intervals to assess deterioration.

There are a number of DMM Eco anchor long term test beds in the Dales, some dating back to the early '90's. We test pull them to understand the long term strength of the rock/resin/anchor bond.

Doesn't this mean that you will be testing items that have not actually been rigged off, or otherwise been subjected to the usual use & abuse? Should these results be used as comparison with, for example, Lancaster hole entrance shaft?

You are, of course, correct. The main reason for the bolts at Yordas is that they provide control data for other tests done in other locations.
