I'll ask at the next PDMHS meeting on Friday, though I don't think the DCA conservation rep (DW) will be there.  Last I heard was that the Environment Agency need to do another inspection before PDMHS will release the key.  Sounds promising that there's no sign of cr*p, so fingers crossed...

Our two spaniels enjoy exploring with us and have been in many caves and mines. We always clean up after them in the unlikely event of them requiring it! On one trip in Box I found a doo-doo that I thought I had missed them leaving. Only after bagging the present did I spot the abandoned tissue stuffed in a crack, together with the abnormally cold nature... :yucky: :yucky: Oh well at least the mine is a bit cleaner now!
They always need a good clean after, being springers they just love getting wet and muddy, the knack is finding a dirty dog friendly pub on the way home! Our two are well trained and dont run off (mostly...) above or below ground. So I say, dogs in caves and mines, provided commonsense is used, is perfectly acceptable.

BTW, hows the rare moss doing on that waterfall at Lumb - havent been there for a few years, last time in a drought when it was looking very dead. :(

Hehe, they normally range off lead at the limit of our lights, and come back ASAP if called. Surprises me they find so much more to look at than I do, never mind sniffing at everything. Stig is quite laid back for a springer but Dan is the proverbial "box of frogs"
There are quite a few pics of them in some of mine and Ditzys trip reports
