Anyone know where carbon dating can be carried out.
Or the cost of the process.
Any information appreciated.

Oxford University accelerator Unit:
https://c14.arch.ox.ac.uk/

Cost is about 500 pounds;

Or the major commercial operation is Beta Analytic in Miami.  Cost is about the same.

?250 is probably about the best price you'll get for a C-14 date, but there is a fund for community archaeology C-14 dates (https://www.cardfund.org/). Do be aware that it's not as straightforward as having something that contains carbon, sample collection needs to be done carefully to avoid contamination and if it's a timber sample, depending on the species and where in  tree the timber came from, the date could be several hundred years out...

Correct about contamination

One of our guys had a wolf skull dated recently and it came out as late 20th century.

It is probably due to contamination and will be re-done, but in the meantime people should be very careful when going to the chippy in Brough.
