The following is taken from the Lyon Equipment Website:

Theft of Petzl Equipment

To all our customers and Petzl users.

On the night of the 2nd of November 2004 a consignment of Petzl equipment was broken into, and considerable stock was stolen from a lorry which had parked up for the night in Warrington, Lancashire.

We would ask you to help in our ‘crimewatch' by keeping a look out for anyone offering any Petzl goods from the following list:

Petzl Myolite (E31P) headtorch

Myo 3 Belt (E29P) headtorch

Petzl Tikka Plus (E47P) headtorch

Petzl Myo 3 (E27P) headtorch

Petzl Zoom (E22NOI) headtorch with dark headband

Petzl Charlet Quark (U19P) ice-climbing ice axe

Petzl Navaho Complet (C711) industrial full body harness size 1

Petzl Navaho Vario (C792) industrial sit harness size 2

Petzl Spatha (S92L) Folding knife (large)

Petzl Spatha (S92S) Folding knife (small)

Should you hear or see anything unusual or suspicious relating to any of these items, please contact the Warrington police direct and ask for:

Detective Constable Mike Robinson: Tel. 01244 613886

Or, if you prefer, contact us direct at Lyon Equipment, Tel: 015396 25493 and ask to speak with Carol, Ben, or Tina.

Thank you for your assistance.

Not only do the bastards (oooppps, sorry.........can I say that?) break into our cars and nick our own personal equipment, they are now starting to nick the goods before they even reach the shops!!

Eyes and ears open on behalf the lads and ladies of Lyon Equipment please peeps! If we find those responsible, we can check the theory of being able to descend Eldon Hole without Ladder or SRT gear.........

Tell you what - its always amazed me how much "new still boxed" petzl gear there is on Ebay,

looks like there will be loads more now then.

Bet you most of the 'used' stuff is actually from some poor sod who's had their car broken into.

You could say that about anything on ebay, or anything bought from anywhere 2nd hand, but what can you do short of only buying new?

I was under the impression the descent is very easy. It's just the getting back out again...............
