A friend of mine who has borrowed my FOD guide book was thinking of doing Symonds Yat Swallet.  They think they have found the correct location, but are unsure as the guidebook says that you can not get in to it.

Does anyone know the access situation or how stable it is?

Hi Zaphod79, the entrance shaft was kind of stabilised a couple of years ago with the intention of trying to open the site up, we have wanted to get to the "Slaughter House" for a very long time, intention to look at the ways on with fresh ideas and all the new techniques that have come on since the 70`s.

At the bottom of the entrance shaft the way on is under some large and horrendously unstable boulders, the amount of work required means that we are not intending to do this at the present time. 

In short the way on is blocked (no pun intended) The entrance has a large Grill/Gate on it, if that fits with what they have found, then yes they have located it.
