New finds in Appin

A previously unknown piece of limestone, not noted on the geological maps, was examined by members of GSG recently. They walked, well... crawled, into 3 new caves with no digging, apart from one found by jumping in the middle of a shakehole, and the floor collapsing  (y). Unfortunately I turned up a day late, missing the initial exploration

One of the caves named Tight'Un was surveyed to be 60 metres long, which is quite a substantial find in Scotland, especially as it's said that 1 metre in Scotland is probably worth 10m in Mendip/Derbyshire, and 100m in South Wales/Yorkshire.

We extended another cave in Appin by roughly 100m, and found a few smaller caves at the weekend!

Well done keep them finds coming. You never know you might come across a burried peice of limestone 100s of meters thick that no one ever knew about and make Scotland the best place in the UK to go for caving, you never know lol.

I think this is wonderful, shows the RGS where not all that interested in Scotland, well done to all involved, keep up the good work, shows that there are still major things to find in this island! :) :)
