And the cavers said unto the Lord, We hath many Student Caving Clubs and yet we hath not an annual student caving event.

And the Lord said unto the cavers, Yay, for ye are pure of heart but disorganised in spirit, ye hath not created such an event till now. It is my word that every year, come the bank holiday weekend ye shall celebrate the student caving scene by eating the calf ye hath fattened since the coming of spring. Ye shall also eat unleavened bread, spagbol and consume wine, for it is truly an event to be celebrated.

And there was much rejoicing and singing across the land.

Book of Speleology 25:7

Every year since the Lord's word was spoken the gentle student caving folk of Ireland have taken their turn to proclaim the goodness of Irish caves, porter, and drinking escapades. This year the turn falls to the DIT Caving Club.

So where is this happening?
Vaughn's Hostel
Kilfenora,
County Clare

And when?
Friday 22nd April to Monday 25th of April

NO WAY!
Yes way.

What's gonna happen?
We have arranged a program of events but beyond that we really can't tell.

SRT Race
Pub
A Quiz
A Disco
A Raffle in aid of ICRO
Caving
Pub
Talks from local cavers such as Quentin Cooper, Colin Bunce on some of their magnificent finds over the past year and from members of the 2010 Voroyna Expedition.
Awards such as Armchair Caver of the Year, Muppet of the Year etc.

What's it gonna cost?
40 euro. This gets you a T-Shirt, breakfast, two evening meals, and three nights accommodation. There are only 46 beds in the Hostel so book early. We have got access to a campsite (with full access for the campers to the hostel facilities) so bring a tent, groundmat and sleeping bag and a rugged sense of perseverance.

I don't mind paying that all!
Splendid!

What's in Kilfenora?
There's three pubs though we'll be based in Vaughn's Pub, which is a few meters away from the Hostel so you won't have to stumble very far to get into bed. There's 2 shops, a post office and, pretty redundantly for a student caving event, a hairdressing salon.

And the caves?
There's loads of them in Clare. Kilfenora is well situated in relation to all the usual suspects such as Pollnagollum and the Cullans. Why not check out some of the more local caves such as Pollballygoonaun and Fergus River Cave?

Who do I contact?
caving {at} dit [d@t] ie

Let us know who you are, how many of you are coming and if there's anything that we can do for you.

Is it going to be fun?
Judging by the past years, yes.

It should also be *epic*.

Even without a Lovely Girls Contest, it'll be worth going. Great craic, great caves, and very, very different. Proper Easter treat...
