I?m seriously looking to purchase the Insta360 action cam. It?s small, waterproof to 5m and modular. It?s possible to swap the lens module from ?normal? to 360 easily. The base that connects all is the battery.
I think that 360 video may have had its day, except for specialist places like planetariums, however this camera comes with special software that allows you to focus on anywhere in that 360 degree shot and follow the action. This gives perfect stabilisation.
My only concern is what it?s low light capabilities are?
Has anyone had any experience with this camera or other action cams in caves?

not had any experience with action cams in UK caves, but know people who rave about the latest GoPros lowlight ability.

a lot will depend on what lights you'll be having with you, and whether you want to 'set up the shot' or just bosh it on the fly.

One of our crowd has been experimenting with a 360 camera.
The image stabilisation is extraordinarily good.
Getting even lighting is more of a problem, but it still works very well with modern underground cap-lamps.

I will find out what it is.

I use the Olympus TG4 underground and in a housing underwater. It is waterproof on its own to 7m. For this kind of stuff I find it brilliant. This has been surpassed now by the TG5 and the TG6 The reason I haven't upgraded is the underwater housing I have doesn't fit these two. My only issue with the 4 is the Image Stabilization in Video Could be better however this has more than likely been addressed on the newer models ?? . What the Olympus does have though is a live composite mode ( read up if you dont know ) which is AMAZING for lighting painting dark spaces  it does perform particularly well in low light zones , this was confirmed when I recently borrowed ( and much appreciated ) a Panasonic Lumix just how good the TG4 is and also Josh has a very good point your lighting has GOT to be up to scratch I see so many people spend a fortune on a camera and then try and video using a torch, you need decent video lights with no hard edges I have been using two cheap Chinese ones and to been honest they are really good much to my suprise !
