CLYDACH SOUTH & LLANELLY HILL TEMPORARY DIVERSION WHEN JOINING A465

As part of our Traffic Management Plan we are currently planning a
temporary diversion for the residents of Clydach South and Llanelly
Hill when joining the A465 Heads of the Valley.

Station Road
There is a substantial amount of earth moving, bridge construction and
retaining wall construction to be carried out along the section of
Station Road, Clydach just before the existing junction with the Heads
of the Valley and this diversion will allow the segregation of local
traffic and construction traffic.

To reduce disruption we are preparing to divert all traffic over the
temporary bridge to join the Heads of the Valleys to the west of the
existing junction.

To aid the flow of traffic there will be left turn only out of this
junction and tose wishing to travel eastward will be able to turn
around at the Dan-y-Coed roundabout, this also avoids the requirement
to cross westbound traffic which currently occurs near the cattle-grid
junction.

Those residents travelling from the west will be required to travel to
the Forge Hammer roundabout, then turn and then enter the diversion by
turning left in to it.

Saleyard Junction

We will also be providing a ?left turn out? and ?left turn in? at the
Saleyard junction, with traffic using the Dan-y-Coed and Forge Hammer
mini roundabouts rather than crossing a live lane. This diversion is
also expected to reduce the ?rat running? through Main
Road during normal daily operation.

Both these diversions will mean slightly longer travel distance, but
will ensure a much easier access onto the A465 carriageway.

We are currently in discussion with a number of Authorities and will
implement this revised road layout during week commencing 18th July
2016.
