Berger trip. Black book type excursion nearby?

Hello,

As an offshoot to Ian?s thread, I too am grateful to learn any hints to make a trip run smoothly but I would also like to hear of any nice (nasty) trips you would recommend local to the Berger.

I?ve googled ?Pas pour les ?mes sensibles? and drawn a blank. . .

The Grotte de Gournier is a truly fantastic cave. To get it to Black Book standards you would have to go a long way into it, but whether you do or not, it's a brilliant excursion in its own right. If you got all the way to the end you woud climb more than 700 metres, and you are looking at a very long, hard trip.

Thanks David, I will have a look! Looks good in your photos.

Scialet du Pot 2 is a decent trip but a fair walk from Correncon never mind the Berger.

The Scialet de la Fromagere is close by the Berger and is a ?classic?. Connected to the Berger as well albeit by a short dive.

The Gournier is nicer than both of these options.

Trou que souffle (Probably spelt wrong) You can park next to the entrance pitch.

The Trou qui Souffle with its seven entrances and 50 km of passages is a great system - worthy of a holiday in its own right. The current length is only a tiny fraction of the potential.

There are some good suggestions here so thank you to all for that.

A closer look at the survey suggests there is more to do in the Berger itself than just visiting the bottom.

Turning right just before the canal appears to be a whole other world of passage? Passing through Galerie du Sable and ending at Siphon du Fin Ford.

Does anyone here have any insight into what this part of the cave is like, and in particular the climbs?

Hi Andy,
There are a couple on the trip who are attending to purely investigate the inlets towards the bottom.
I also have it on good authority that the Scialet de la Fromag?re is a 'Black book' type trip...Perfect for you and Matt  ;)

I think during my 'down time' I will be more than happy going into the Grotte de Gournier and the Show caves.
