Diggers in my club are very succesfully using small lengths of wire from an old electric fire element as an igniter using the 12v battery from the drill - nothing else required (except for the "material" you are igniting...

Yep - Nichrome resistance wire is the stuff from an electric bar fire. Got myself an element yesterday (not that easy to source these days). Also managed to source some nitrocellulose laquer from a guitar shop.

Perfect for safetly letting off fireworks at this time of year eh.  8)

tried that laquer in conjunction with some Nichrome wire.

Think i can safely say that will have the desired effect.

It does mention something about being extremely flamable on the can.  (y)
