I had a great day caving yesterday. I was supposed to be taking my friend Sheila climbing for one of her first times on real rock, but as the forecast was looking a bit dodge, I managed to persuade her that we should really be going caving instead
Anyway, I was a bit unsure at first how she'd get on, as I know a few other people who've had beginners nearly in tears after a trip round Giant's. We opted for Bagshawe, partly for the cosy shed to get changed in, and partly because I've spent half my life in there this year so it's easy to find the way....
I was well impressed- Sheila just kept up, through crawls, the low duck to the streamway, in muddy crawls, and even up the Snakes Pyjamas and on into Taylor's Way. And without moaning once, which is more than can be said for me on some trips!
So, thoroughly enjoyable and something I hope to do again soon....
AND we went to the pub afterwards- possibly the makings of a true caver???
