Hi All especially those of you based in North Wales.

Can anyone recommend any good pubs for Saturday lunch on 1st August that are open and within 40 mins drive of Ruthin.

Or does anyone know any good caterers that are open in Ruthin area?

Thanks so much, Jane

There aren?t many (seemingly) open unfortunately.

Some suggestions;

The Castle Hotel in Ruthin Square. (0 miles away)
It?s a Wetherspoon?s (I know you know it) so the food is ?as you would expect?. Their website is showing that they are open though.

The Dinorbin Arms ? Bodfari (8 miles away)
Awesome food BUT their website is currently showing they are closed. However, it may open on or before the 1st August (worth checking if you don?t find anything else)

The White Horse ? Hendrerwydd (3 miles away)
Definitely open for takeaway food. Sensational catering and they have been listed in good food guides (5th in the UK I think). They may also be open on or before the 1st August.

Unfortunately, the Welsh guidelines don?t seem to offer a date that pubs can serve food ?indoors? although they can (from the 13th July) serve it ?outdoors?.

I will keep having a think?..

Hi Jane,

Can't say i'm up to date with any in the immediate Ruthin area, but some heading toward Llangollen/Wrexham way...

I believe (from trusty Facebook) that the Sun Inn Trevor is now back open and serving food. I think they are only serving outside but I have eaten here and the food is good - beer not bad either. It's roughly 30mins from Ruthin and set on the Llangollen canal, below the Trevor rocks (limestone-woo). https://www.suntrevor.co.uk

Also, Tyn Y Capel does nice food up in Minera, again around 30 mins from Ruthin. They are accomodating business as usual for bookings only. The food is good and drinks too. It's a regular stop off after caving trips in the quarry. There are even caving pictures on the walls in there! (if they're still there). https://www.tyn-y-capel.com

Obviously there will be more, and closer, but these are a few I have seen re-open for food so far that I can vouch for :)

If you go into Wrexham itself, The Fat Boar does some cracking food.
