What I wear mate:

With a long sleeve thermal as my usual and a fleece top if on fresher trips/getting a bit wet etc etc.

Just what I had leftover from my cycling days and they're still going strong! I'm yet to splash out on a furry.

It's going back a bit but I wore a pair of Mountain Equipment Ultrafleece salopettes for a while.  While they were great for general use, winters in rope access for example, they weren't so comfortable for caving.  They had side zips on the hips which would work themselves undone and expose bare flesh to the cold of the oversuit.  Most annoying to sort out in the confines of a cave.  Some people took the zips out and sewed them up which worked a treat.  So my advice is make sure they don't have side zips.
