Recently my croll was getting to the stage where it was just as good going down on some rope as going up, obviously the time for a new one although the wear to the cam was nothing like as bad as I had seen in the past, probably not doing so much these days in very muddy conditions.
what was concerning was that on comparing the old with the new, the metal below the bottom attachment hole (the critical one) had been reduced by about a half. This was not obvious without comparing it to a new one as the wear was fairly even round the bottom half of the hole.
