Hi just got back from a dry Wk/end in S.Wales
Today we entered a reasonably wet Little Neath River Cave once though the Entrance Duck their is a Terrible Smell of Oil or Diesel.
Once into the Larger Chambers the Stink was Gaging !
Through the Canal & Canal Bypass everywhere is covered in an Oily residue.
Their are Boulders oily & extremely Slippery up out the Water I know it's been wet lately so this might be recent ?
When we exited we Stunk of Diesel were covered in Oil.

Anyone been there recently ?

I was there on Sunday too. Gaging is as well as stomach wrenching. Wouldn't recommend the use of a carbide lamp in there at the moment.  :yucky:

A misconception about diesel. Diesel vapour does not flash like petrol. You can even stick a naked flame to it and I don't think it will take fire. Mind you, I'm not going to experiment to see if its true or not!

Please let the Cambrian Caving Council Conservation Officer know if you haven't already. I don't think she reads this forum and I'm sure it'd be useful if the first hand accounts of the problem got to her. There is an e-mail address here:
