I was leading a Newcastle University club trip down Haytime Hole this Saturday, when on our way out we encountered some floor subsidence in the small chamber where the first pitch (with the fixed electron ladder comes down into).  The floor near the lower end of the chamber next to the scaffolded down-climb squeeze moved down about 12 inches towards the down-climb squeeze whilst a member of the part was coming up through it.  Whilst the hole stayed open and the party member was okay, and the remainder of the group also managed to get up without any problem, the current scaffolding may not be sufficient to withstand another slump and could block the squeeze down. 

Extreme care should be taken when passing through that squeeze, and you should avoid having more people than necessary standing at the bottom end of the chamber, as the floor that you are standing on is potentially quite unstable.

It should also be noted that the fixed electron ladder on the first pitch shouldn?t be used as its anchor points are in poor condition.  Furthermore, the fixed line on the second pitch has an extremely dodgy first anchor point along the traverse (a 24 inch stalagmite which is cemented onto the side of the rift, but is otherwise free floating.
