Leck Fell access

At the weekend, I was interested to note that a car parked on Leck Fell had a printed confirmation of the cave booking system in the windscreen.  Alongside that a BCA membership card was displayed.  After all our hard work to simplify the access on Dales fells this does send out the wrong message so worth a reminder that none of this is necessary.

The access system is an on-line system only.  Once booked nothing needs to be printed out and displayed.  The access system is open to everybody and it makes no difference whether you are a BCA member or not.  No identity card needs to be displayed either.

I've retired from CNCC now but worth spreading the word on access as wide as possible.

I've been very pleased with how will the system has been working over the past couple of years with strong and continuous use of it so thanks to everyone for continuing to support it and help keep good relations with land owners.

Some people do seem to misunderstand that this is not a permit system, and as Tim says, there is no requirement to print anything - just book online and away you go. I can appreciate why people may think this as the old system was in place for a long time and old habits die hard! If you do change your mind or plans, please remember to cancel it though.

Another thing to remember is that some caves allow more than one booking per day so you may not necessary have exclusive use. If you see another group, don't assume they haven't bothered to book. The website now shows this information when you select your cave if it applies.
