Hello all

A few warnings have come to our attention affecting Thistle Cave, popular with novice groups:
https://cncc.org.uk/news/20201208-thistle-cave-warning

And Knacker Trapper Hole, making this cave even more likely to live up to its name:

Obviously, if planning a visit to either of these, this information is well worth being aware of. We would like to remind everyone that it is always worth checking your chosen cave on the CNCC website prior to your visit as any warnings we have become aware of will be posted there.

Hmm so it was not my imagination the entrance was tighter and my mate was right they were moving, it must have been like this for a least a year then as I think it was a year at least since I went there and we aborted the trip because my mate could not fit and thought the boulders were moving (while I was on the otherside no less!).

A splendid effort by a small team of volunteers to stabilise the entrance to Knacker Trapper today...

The work is going to run into another day or two, hopefully to be completed as soon as possible in the new year. Watch here for more news. Until then we advise that the entrance is very much a work-in-progress and remains unstable. We encourage cavers to give Knacker Trapper a miss until work is complete.

It's taken a little while to round up the details and the photos, but we are really pleased to say that work on Knacker Trapper Hole was completed just before the end of the year, and the entrance has been stabilised and is now fitted with a pipe.

Please have a read of the full report and see some pictures: https://cncc.org.uk/news/20210123-knacker-trapper-hole-work-complete

Thank you to our volunteers; A job very well done
