PLEASE SUPPORT & ADVERTISE THIS EVENT AS WE PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO MAKING IT HAPPEN SO THE MORE THE MERRIER. AND NON-DACHSTEIN'EES ARE WELCOME ;-)

A full weekend of caving expedition skills, including basic SRT, advanced SRT, SRT self rescue, hauling & lowering, vertical team rescue, cave surveying, first aid, emergency procedures/survival skills, kit selection, underground cooking, expedition do's & don'ts, photography workshop, Dachstein presentation, etc.. Sunday: large-scale underground cave rescue practice. Obviously not every workshop will be suitable or available for every attendee as there aren't enough hours in each day so you'll choose your preferences. I only mention that in case any pedants are preparing to slag me off ;-)

The Gloucester Cave Rescue Group have very kindly offered to let us use their brilliant facilities again: converted barn with rope training facilities, lecture room, small kitchen, toilet, camping & floor space.  We will need to make a donation to the team for this outstanding gesture & anybody damaging the place will be burned at the stake ;-)  Cooking facilities are limited so we'll organise an Indian or whatever for the main meal.

This is the original & best expedition workshop available in the UK (we've been running these since 2000) & the level of supervision/guidance/advice by some of our most experienced explorers is second to none (there will be NO formal training as that means we could be sued!!!).  And it's worth mentioning that our veterans have been pushing very deep & arduous caves for a very long time so they've picked up some tips along the way...

We will try to keep the cost below ?20 each & this is being run at NO profit to any of those involved. We have run many of these before & are aware that a huge amount of effort goes into making this a success so please commit as we need a decent number to make it cost effective.  And spread the word as we use this as recruitment for the expedition too.  Try to arrive Friday evening if possible.

Full details are on Facebook so you'll need to join the main Dachstein (Austria) Caving Expedition Group first & then the Event itself.

So far we have commitments from the following volunteer trainers/advisors for the workshop:

Rope Monkey crew (IRATA Level 3/Dachstein veterans): Rich Hudson, Tom Chapman, Matt St Clair, Joel Corrigan.
Surveying/Prospecting gurus: Tom Foord, Rich Smith, Ian Holmes.
Rescue(d) veteran: Josh Bratchley

More will turn up but organising cavers is like herding cats!

We currently have about 30 people attending but space for more so either send me a p.m or join the Facebook group & event.
