Yes that's right... We need are turning 50 in May and I need you.

We are putting together a special anniversary journal to mark this milestone (will be available online after the celebrations) and I am looking for images and stories of your caving experiences in the Clydach Gorge area.

So dig deep!!

Didn't you used to have the little cottage on the steep hill out of Llangattock towards the Chelsea hut? I stayed in there once - there was a chap boiling up a bucket of eels for breakfast one morning. Not helpful when you had a dreadful hangover...

The little cottage you refer to is the Old Darren Sunday School
I think it was used by BUSS for a while

The old Sunday School is owned by West Midlands Cave Exploration Group.  Their efforts to make it habitable as a caving cottage was hampered by a certain local resident..

No, not the Sunday School, we used to stay in there regularly. This was further down the hill, on a steep bit, right on the road on the left as you went up.

That was the place the Llangattock Caving Club used to rent. It was very basic.

Ahh yes! I remember it well...you're correct of course (this getting old thing's a real pain in the bum). I remember it as being sumptuously appointed.

Hello Mr W! I was going to message you, to ask if you would write something for the 50th anniversary journal, about you setting up the club and the early years after that. A couple of people have already agreed to write pieces about different eras. Will message you.

Huw Jones.

And is Peter another Wilton Jones? Finally had the pleasure of meeting Tarquin last month.
Party is planned for may. Details to follow and tickets to sort. Won't be alot just to cover journal costs and food :)
