A date for the winter diary

The organisers have now decided to place the event totally on-line after deciding against a hybrid event.
As a volunteer for the festival I am now working with the organisers and others to finalise a programme for the evening.  It is shaping up really well and may offer some serious armchair relief for those unable to get out as much as they would like.  As I understand it special event software will be used to broadcast the session which will include a film, armchair chat and a guest speaker.  More details to follow.

Hey folks,

Just wanted to update you all on the amazing line up we have for this year's event, which i believe will be one of the best so far. Which makes up for the fact that we cannot share it all together in each others company.

I don't know about you all but I'm looking forward to this as a means to escape the grimness of this lockdown and to enjoy some escapism and inspiration. Of course it isnt the same not being there to see it in person but I would encourage you nevertheless to support festivals like this in this really difficult time, because if we don't we simply won't be able to enjoy them again in the future if they go under.

Out line up this year is something quite special.

We have Sam Thompsons Ironstone film, detailing a group of New Zealand cavers who tried to find a way through the remote Ironstone cave system in the remote wilderness of New Zealand?s South Island. Both this project and this film are just amazing. The sort of caving one dreams of.

Petzl's Oliver Testa who makes a living full time from caving and exploring https://www.olivier-testa.com/ He will be giving us a mix of updates and short films from his exploits to the likes of Madagasgar, lucky sod!

and I am particularly thrilled to be sitting down with our very own, Di Arthurs, Holly Bradley, Fleur Loveridge and Adele Ward to discuss all things caving, cave expeditions, cave diving and digging both at home and abroad.

I've been lucky enough to see the Ironstone film and it is a fantastic story very well filmed.  I'd highly recommend it.

I'm also keen to find out a little more about Testa - he sounds a fascinating guy.

I am a little worried about the third part of the event.  Will Steph, Di, Holly, Fleur and Adele find enough to talk about  ;) ;)

Nikola Tesla was the closest you'll ever find to a true Magician.
He could make major things happen hundreds of miles away on demand.

Do consider treating yourself to a festival pass - or buying one as a Christmas present.  Films show until 30th Dec.  We have watched loads so far and there is an excellent variety - last night it was kayaking in Columbia and being uplifted by the film 'Kiss The Soil.  The Events industry has taken a particular hammering this year and KMF will appreciate all support  (y)

That was two hours of cracking entertainment... a really nice video, brilliant talk by Fleur, and a really entertaining panel discussion which couldn't have done a better job at portraying how awesome caving is. Well done to Fleur, Adele, Di and Holly!  ;)

It's a bargain for the price is it, but id really recommend buying a festival pass, as there is soooooo much great content and its amazing value for money.
