Ice Stalagmites

Saw these ice stalagmites just inside a mine level today, several of which were leaning over - but not fallen over, they seemed to have grown like that, and not all leaning in the same direction either. It was pretty damn warm outside so they probably won't be there tomorrow. Lovely refractions on the first one. Crop at higher res at the bottom.

This happens when you get a partial thaw and a breeze, we had leaning icicles on one of our barns last week after the sun warmed the roof enough for a little meltwater to come down, but the wind chill then froze it. I've seen similar ice stalagmites form just inside the Hillocks entrance when the draught was pulling in during a cold snap.

We took an evening trip to Bath Swallet (Mendip) recently and there was many ice formations in the entrance series including a good amount of ?flowstone? making grip a little tricky climbing out.
