Filming Enquiry: Draethen

Dear UK Cavers,

Theo here from Rumpus Media - I hope you all are well.

We are currently producing a documentary about Roman Britain and we were hoping to explore the Roman lead mine at Draethen.

If anyone could help us out in terms of providing some info on the site, or potentially meeting up with us to film some caving here, then please let me know.

Yes. Stuart France knocked himself out trying to sort this one but found himself up against a brick wall. My advice is to stay away from the underground especially for filming.

Advice is to try to arrange something with the National Trust re Dolaucothi.

You could always use Llanmynech Ogof  which is known to be Roan although Stone hammers were found suggesting it may date  to Bronze age. Firesetting had been used what elment is cave and widened out by mining methods is a unknown
