Just a quick heads up to all those not fully familiar with the UIS congresses.

They are held every 4 years, with a general pattern of one in Europe, one out of Europe. Last year it was in Texas, 2005 it was in Greece, 2001 in Brazil, etc. In 2013 it's in the Czech Republic, so this is the closest to home it's going to be until at least 2021!

Also, with it being in the Czech Republic i think it's likely to be more exploration based than previous years due to the fact there will be thousands of local European cavers there.

I met with Zdeněk (the organisor for 2013) last year and was glad to hear that the socialising/partying/stomping aspect is also very high on his agenda. I was helped to believed him by the fact that while he was telling me we were both sneaking boxes of alcohol into one of the Texas events (the Americans just don't get it, we need beer and wine, not just food and food...!).

And it will all be helped by the fact that everything is going to be nice and cheap.  (y)
