? An opportunity to tape a route in South Passage GG

With todays fb postings from the CPC, of Fell Beck in spate into GG and South Passage being reported as sumping.

Could this be an opportunity as the water recedes to tape a route through South Passage to allow the drying silts to craze and dry out to the sides in a natural way?

I don't want to see tapes in there, they really spoil the cave when used unnecessarily. The tapes we use in the UK often look like road works on the M1, really looks crap some of the time. I don't want the Yorkshire caves to start looking like those tape-tastic littering of south wales caves, with miles and miles of tapes. Don't get me wrong tape works in some places and helps keep places pristine but places that get flooded or have already been trashed such as the passage to mud hall do not need taping, it just makes it look worse.

So what other way could be used to preserve the surface and let it dry out naturally? Or is it not worth considering, on the grounds that it'll only get destroyed by another flood?
