There are signs up stating that the road leading out of Settle to Buckhaw Brow will be closed from 17th June for 5 days.

Bear this in mind if may affect your journey.

So for those of us who aren't local - where is Buckhaw Brow? Google says this is the road leading through Giggleswick "back" to the A65

There are also signs out on the main A65 just west of Ingleton out towards Cowan Bridge. If so, it will possibly be more of an issue since there is no easy bypass. If memory serves, it was for 5 days work beginning 5th June - perhaps someone could check?

Google is right.  ;)

Buckhaw Brow is where cavers may park up to visit the Giggleswick Scar caves.

kay ? Buckhaw Brow lies on the route of the 'old' A65 before the Settle bypass was built; 'When I were a lad' to get from west to east or vice versa along the A65 you had to go through Settle and up the hill to BHB . . . which was often time-consuming and frustrating.

Yes, I think it was like that when we first moved to Leeds. There was a lot of protest at the time about perceived Highways Agency plans to turn A65 into a "motorway across the Dales" with lots of bypasses, road widening etc. Then it got de-trunked, and all work stopped.
