Technically not Single Rope Technique (SRT) a he had to use 2 ropes...

From the amount of slack in the safety rope it could certainly be described as srt.

I must have been watching a different Steve Backshall climbing a tree. He was using a Petzl ASAP trailing up the safety line with a very limited amount of slack being created as he climbed. I'll have to watch it again as I must have missed a bit.

Still taken from 22:38 as he heads up the tree from the ground. I've added the yellow highlight on the safety rope in the second frame.

He seems to have got it sorted by the time he's higher up - presumably because someone on the ground has pulled it through...
