The artist kindly donated these to the Ghar Parau Foundation to help support British Exploratory Caving

The purpose of the Ghar Parau Foundation is to provide grant-aid assistance to British caving expeditions that travel to all corners of the world. In particular the charity looks for expeditions whose aims and methods include an element of innovative exploration or scientific study, distinguishing them from the typical sport-caving venture. All proceeds go to the Ghar Parau Foundation

Buyer Collects. Cash on Collection only

(Note Caving post may be an option!)

This is the first of ten or so lots Ghar Parau has to sell so watch this space  :)

You got a bit of a steal there! Robin usually charges a good bit more than that!

I chucked in a cheeky opening bid, but forgot to bid again...

Here's a few more stunning pictures again very kindly donated by Robin Gray with all proceeds going to the Ghar Parau Foundation. Again caver post may be possible for those not living in the vicinity of Sheffield. Please dig deep, all proceeds go to a great cause to support British Expedition Caving  ;D

This original picture from the Rock Face Series painted by Robin Gray in the 1990s. Not only does it show a composition based on fractures rock slabs but also trails of light suggested by cavers lamps moving underground.
The picture is in mixed media waxoil and acrylic on Bockingford paper. The materials used are by the Swiss Firm, Caran d’Ache and until 2018, Robin was their chief demonstrator of technique in the UK. He also represented St. Cuthberts Mill who make Bockingford paper.

This abstract picture is from Robin’s Rock Face series produced in the 1990s. The shapes are taken from observations of rock faces both underground and in places like Cheddar Gorge. Robin Gray is widely known for his abstract work, examples of which can be seen on www.robingrayartworks.com   The textures and shapes are constructed to form and attractive and evocative composition. It is produced in wax-oil crayons on Bockingford Not surface paper.

The picture shows a caver climbing up to a dark recess in the hope of finding a new way on. The cave is  Llygad Llwchwr, a fine river cave, under the Black Mountain in South Wales.  The picture was one of four painted in Oil Pastel on Somerset Velvet Paper after an excellent trip with friends. All the others have been sold and this one was originally kept by Robin as a reminder of fun times.

This picture shows caving gear of the time. It is an Oil Pastel and was done for the poster for the first ever exhibition of cave painting to be held in a cave. Robin has shown pictures at Goughs Cave in Cheddar, in the Vercors and at Jenolan Cave in Australia but this was the first exhibition to actually be held underground in the cave its self. The cave was Kents Cavern in Devon.

This original Robin Gray picture is a passage in Cueva del Viento (Cave of the Wind), a larva tube on Tenerife. It is an original painting in Oil Pastel. See additional lot for another from this series
