Hmmm you are correct - the privacy level on the group is public so anybody should be able to join or see anything.

One thing that's occurred to me is that the "safety level" of the group is "safe" - are you considered "safe" by Flickr? Do you have the same privacy level on your pics? I think you can see what your privacy level is by going into "your account" and then "privacy and permissions".

Also on the main "your account" page, what is set in the your profile -  "if it's searchable" link? The reason I ask is that if I search for "la grotte de limousis3" I can't find your pics.....do you have the "Hide your photostream from site-wide searches on flickr.com?" box checked?

All settings are the default ones. My safety level is set to "safe". The privacy level is the same on all photos and is set to "anyone can see this photo". Similarly the hide photostream from site wide searches parameter is not checked.

I don't think there is any problem with the settings. I just found the following on Flickr's help:

"If your account is new, first you need to upload at least 5 photos. After that minimum has been reached, then it shouldn't take more than a few days until your photos appear in searches, groups, etc. To make sure your photos show in searches, remember to add accurate tags and descriptions."

Whilst the account has been open a while, I didn't start uploading until last night so with any luck they'll start to show up in the public search within a few days.

Thanks for the help anyway.

I had a similar problem when i first joined flickr. After several days with almost 100 pictures they still would not show up. I simply e-mailed the admins who quickly rectified the problem, by resetting something! So fear not!

Just had a browse on the Flickr gallery and the latest upload (Andrew W) although some really stunning photo's, there seemed to be loads of duplicate shots or slightly different angles.

Should we refrain from just uploading 'everything' from our camera's and try and be selective with our best shots.

Otherwise I feel the Flickr group will end up like the galleries of Facebook  :(

Sorry to moan but it's just a piece of constructive criticism to try and keep the gallery neat and tidy.

Yes I fully agree with you.

I suspect I can also vet which shots appear in the group - I need to have a scan through.

we could always remove our own photos that have been there for a while.
that way the shots will be new and fresh and the list of photos won't get too big

Or you could limit us to a certain amount per day, that way encouraging us to think about their worth...
The end is where we start....

No need to remove them - the newest ones are always shown at the top anyway. If people are selective about what they submit to the group that should be enough. There's no way to limit the number that are submitted.

Other Flickr groups I am a member of limit the number of photos you can upload per day, so this at least must be possible. Some of the caving groups on Flickr are completely spoiled by people dumping their entire camera memory card into them after a weekend at a caving event where all their pictures were of people on a campsite etc. I like the ukcaving group as it only tends to contain (self) selected good caving pictures. Long may that continue!

(And Andrew, you have uploaded some really first class pictures there. I don't mind about the quantity either, but maybe weed out some of the similar looking ones so only the best of each subject remains? Personally I think that makes a better experience for viewers as well as giving a much better impression of a photographers skill).

Its' under "Administration" then "Moderation settings"

Quote
Would you like to set a posting limit?
No  - group members can add as many things as they like
Yes  - allow members to post XX submission(s)  (per day, per week, per month, ever)
The end is where we start....

Fair criticism I think. I've removed a stack of the similar ones and left what I think is a reasonable selection. Unfortunately the statistics still seem to show the original number I uploaded. Don't know if there is any way to correct that.

As always, feedback is welcome.

Any chance of using an API to put the Flickr group back on here?

How the *!&$"* do you sort this out?.....

Welcome back to Flickr!
Flickr Logo: click to get home

We're sorry, but there's a problem.
Here's what going on:

Your ejt33v6e4kqtybtd34erczdkus7ljznx3h4okdzi Yahoo! ID uses the email address myemail@aol.com. That email address is already associated with the myemail account on Flickr.
Here's what to do:

If you are trying to create a new Flickr account for your ejt33v6e4kqtybtd34erczdkus7ljznx3h4okdzi Yahoo! ID, you need to either:
Remove the myemail@aol.com email address from your myemail Flickr account. (You'll need to sign in to Flickr with your myemail Yahoo! ID to do this.) Or,
Change the primary email address for your ejt33v6e4kqtybtd34erczdkus7ljznx3h4okdzi Yahoo! ID. (Your ejt33v6e4kqtybtd34erczdkus7ljznx3h4okdzi Yahoo! preferences.)
If you are trying to access your myemail Flickr account, please sign in to Yahoo! again with your myemail Yahoo! ID.

I only understand English.
(I've substituted my actual email address)
