Wezzit?

I see you're not impressed Ian but it is a great clue as there are few caves as important. Looking into the cave:

It's just funny, I find it hard enough to guess the places when I've been to them let alone in a rarely visited place :)
I could guess based on caves with archaeological importance perhaps but that feels a little like cheating.

There's nothing wrong with using clues for an educated guess Ian.
I had intended to visit this cave many times over the past 60 years and finally managed it last month. The cave features prominently in Dales caving literature but only a few feet of passage is accessible to those without gills, hence its lack of popularity.

Hmm, well that is intriguing.

Perhaps it could be Boreham Cave? (I thought that was gated though so I'll keep thinking).

OK, here's a change of emphasis; see if folks recognise thjis underground spot.

;-)

Well done that man! Here's another picture, in case a clue had been needed.

You obviously subscribe to the philosophy of my old caving mentor Pete Gray, who once announced (sagely) in the middle of an argument about what road to take: "Know thy Dales". We chose his option and it was the right way of course.

Strangely enough, I was thinking of posting a photo of the kiln in Wezzit. If anyone wants to know about hard labour and the terribly unhealthy conditions in which the men worked, the kiln is the place to visit. There's a similar kiln in the quarry overlooking the River Doe on the edge of Ingleton but it's in poor condition.

This one is a bit more mainstream:
