On the 10-12th June, the Northern Pennine Club celebrated our belated 75th anniversary (postponed from 2021).

This was a splendid weekend, with members from all generations celebrating an evening at Greenclose (our bunkbarn near Clapham/Bentham) on Friday, a bash with after-dinner speaker and Ceilidh at Bentham Golf Club on Saturday, and then afternoon tea at Greenclose on Sunday.

It really was a splendid weekend, and nice to see so many people. The NPC (just known as 'The Pennine' for short), like many Dales clubs at the moment is in a very healthy state with a considerable influx of younger cavers over the past several years. Coming so soon after one of our most well-attended France holidays in years, this weekend gives us high hopes that NPC is on-target for another 75 years (or more) of exploring underground.

It is always nice to see members who perhaps haven't been up to Greenclose for some time (the cottage has improved massively in the last few years). The first weekend of the month is our unofficial members' weekend and you may well see a few familiar faces, as well as many friendly new ones :)

Of course, we are also excited as this Autumn, work begins on a major extension to Greenclose which will bring a new library, drying room, tacklestore and SRT training facility... more news on that once work has started...
