    Wrysgan Purchase

It takes the land registry months if not years to update their records... Chris.

    CRTT Updates

I have abseiled down the Croesor main shaft, yes indeed. Also got off near the bottom to look at the upper floor. There's a lot of rope bounce when you get back onto a rope with 90m above you... Chris.

    Wrysgan Purchase

A zip-line down the Wrysgan incline could be pretty exciting! Chris.

    CRTT Updates

At some point the land owner is going to realise what is going on and borrow some 'chemical digging equipment' from our Yorkshire or Mendip cave explorers and blow the entrances in. Chris.

    CRTT Updates

The second pitch is easy to negotiate without any gear. You just go up the slope instead, using the fixed rope, then around the traverse. Chris.

CRTT zip line - too fast!

I used it last Saturday, and I agree it's very fast. I gripped the parallel rope with a gloved hand as hard as I could, and my speed remained just about acceptable. I imagine a lot of folk crash into the wall. Chris.

I shall sign up in the next couple of days, when I get a few minutes. Chris.

    Flintshire Lead Mining

😂 Probably, but I knew who it was! Chris.

    Flintshire Lead Mining

Oh, I thought it was fairly widespread knowledge. I found this at the bottom of the Olwyn Goch shaft earlier this year. Chris.

    Yellow calcite

We see yellows like the OP in the ironstone of the Midlands. Chris.

Proposed Renewable Hydro Electric Scheme at Cwm Cynfal, Llan Ffestiniog - Again!

For Neil's dilemma, it's easy (and I am a WMS member). He should act on behalf of the stated aims of the society, so he's quite right to raise objections on the basis of historical mine remains. Although I am also keen on historical mine remains, in this case I think the generation of clean...

Proposed Renewable Hydro Electric Scheme at Cwm Cynfal, Llan Ffestiniog - Again!

If we had applied thinking like this 'back in the day' there would be no Maentwrog hydro, no Cwm Dyli hydro, no Maenofferen hydro, etc. etc. Each one had a measurable effect on it's environment, but we've survived! It is sad that as a nation, we are unable to do anything without the most...

Proposed Renewable Hydro Electric Scheme at Cwm Cynfal, Llan Ffestiniog - Again!

I'm struggling to see a problem here. They want to put in a pipe to take water from the top of the waterfall, and stick it through a turbine at the bottom before returning it to the river. In the grand scheme of things (i.e. quenching our insatiable thirst for energy) this seems like a low...

    Aditnow.co.uk

It seems there are a few topics to be resolved here: 1. Will Simon give access to the Aditnow remains to NAMHO? This seems to be the key point - can AN be reinvigorated or are we starting from scratch? There's an insane amount of information on AN, in addition to the photos, so I sincerely hope...

    Aditnow.co.uk

NAMHO are quite prepared to step in (in principle) - I have canvassed opinion informally about this. But without the data, nothing is going to happen. It's been 3 years now... Chris.

    Aditnow.co.uk

Summary - gone for good (in my opinion). Including all of the pictures and data uploaded to it. Chris.

BCA going greener (by sending out less green......)

The only downside that I can think of is if somebody asks to see the card, and doesn't believe that an electronic one is equivalent. I have never been asked for my green one in 25 years so perhaps a non-issue. Chris.

Shot holes in Spare Rib, Ogof Draenen

When I read the most recent Descent magazine, I noticed an awful lot of references to using explosives, albeit terms like 'chemical persuasion', etc. etc. Perhaps it's become almost normal now to mine your way into a natural cavern. Chris.
