Gone to the world but the hoo was a good spot. Not electricity or heating. Nights are long and cold and one can only play chess to keep warm for so long.
Not to sure how on brand this is but above ground conservation regarding the apporaches to caves. Encouraging car sharing where possible to minamise impact on the suggested parking areas and highlighting the access paths.
If anything this could have the opposite affect on insurers as it could be highlighted how the 67 disaster was a collection of limitations of the time in weather reporting and a lack of an organised rescue team. These days were so much better prepared in terms of equipment and weather forcasting...
I've met Dan so far as he's done some preliminary chats with Jack Pickup and my dad in Bernies and he also turned up to the anniversary meet this year. He seems a respectful guy who not just after making a tragedy porn flick, He's more interested in the cave and the exploration and what brings...
Didn't have any AV set but my mum made me something once that's still going. Top part goes over my SRT kit all the time so you can't see your carbiners but you can find them by feel. I never found it took much of a detriment to my already bad SRT skills.
Once had the jacket bunch up on me...
Would add that short drop to gavel has a traverse and a small pitch/climb that is best rigged if your not a confident climber. Great through trip though.
At Sids memorial the family put out a load of photos they had no room for for people to take. Naturally I scooped up loads as they were free and thought I'd share them here in order to identify them before sending scans to the BCRA Library for archiving.
If anyone can spot who or whats in these...
Went to that bloody conference!
Quick catch up with people I knew and gave some biscuits to the volunteers. Also dished out loads of neoprene patches to people to repair their wetsuits and over suits.
Attended talks on Peru, Mulu and interestingly and entertainingly caving politics by the...
Former rope access worker. Also wouldn't use a work harness underground as the previous answers state. Too bulky and not efficient for prusiking compared to a standard caving harness. If comforts is what you after don't be decoves by that padding the main thing that make working on a harness...
I'm a hoarder of old gear. Shiny gear comes from next door 😂.
I need to update the rope in that case but I'm currently having difficulty opening the door.
It was actually my mum who drew those!
I've taken them down though as they were a bit confusing. I remember as a child going into the women's more than the men's as I thought one stall was for stand up only and the other was for sitting. Which in a sense was half correct.
After more than 6 months of effort getting the place up to scratch Bernie's has finally opened its doors. Starting to let you know now we've had a couple of days to get the operation ironed out and working smoothly.
Its been a long road getting here redecorating the place, refitting the...
I've got a cabinet I want to stock up with historic gear for the general public to match the one that's already up. Petzl glooms, broken duos, old rope all offers considered.
If you got anything lying around let me know and I'll see if I can make room for it in the display.
Found an old Darren drum body sans lid. Don't suppose there anyone out there with a lid sans body? It's for display in Bernie's so the more battered the better.
