    Age of hanger

It might give an idea when this location was last visited as it clearly wasn't yesterday. Chris.

    Tony Oldham

Oh, that's a pity. I did wonder however as we'd not heard from him for a while. Definitely a joker! Chris.

Cave Deposit Links Greenland’s and Europe’s Climate Records with a German Volcano

I didn't know we had actual volcanoes so close to the UK so recently! Chris.

    The use of AI art

In some circumstances I agree. But if I was looking for an image for a website, I wouldn't be paying an artist, I'd pinch something from somewhere. Chris.

Rescuers work to save Italian caver injured 585m underground

Caps are small explosive charges. Perhaps the 'capping' terminology is a bit niche. Chris.

Rescuers work to save Italian caver injured 585m underground

From here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c878en33yd8o I enjoyed this bit: "They had to navigate narrow tunnels and at times use small explosive charges to get her out." - the explosives bit reminded me of cave exploration in Yorkshire - if it's not big enough, blow it up. Chris.

    North Wales mines

Depends on what you consider decent. There are some good mines in the Gwydyr Forest, Parc, Hafna and Pandora for example. Aberllefenni - Foel Grochan (red crane entrance) is pretty good too. Cwmorthin and Maenofferen have a lot more to offer than can be seen on a single trip, as does Parc. Chris.

    CO2 Monitor - circuit diagram / details

I bought a commercial one for about £1000. There's probably a reason they are so expensive (aside from the fact it does O2, CO, H2S and CH4 as well) Chris.

Wind turbines causing rain? [Split from Mossdale.]

I agree. They should be onshore. A bloke in a ratty transit with a spanner is a lot cheaper than a boat. Chris.

Major operation launched to rescue youngsters trapped in notorious Eryri slate mine

I am assuming you know the way! As all leaders ought to (or if not, it's an exploration trip where retracting steps is always an option) Chris.

Major operation launched to rescue youngsters trapped in notorious Eryri slate mine

Not being able to exit from Rhosydd is disappointing. You don't need to climb the quarry, and it's only 30 mins tops from the Croesor Rhosydd boundary to the exit from the 9 adit. Then 30 mins to raise the alarm from there. Stuff going wrong is fine - it happens to everybody. But being unable...

    Wild camping in Dales recommendations?

I would not be worrying about being shot! There are laws about that. Chris.

    Wild camping in Dales recommendations?

Anywhere on high ground in Swaledale or Wensleydale. Or Arkengarthdale. Chris.

New BCA membership system is up and running! (or down and caving?)

Worked for me just fine. The geographical location of CATMHS seemed a bit awry though - I felt it ought to be in the Lake District somewhere. Chris.

Lid / lamp hire in the Peaks

Not looking hopeful... I might suggest to the interested parties that they wait until next year when we might be in Yorkshire, the Lakes, or North Wales, where there are options... Chris.

    Swinnergill Kirk

Thanks Chris. Interesting. Seems like there's potential. I wonder if the sump rises and falls with weather conditions, so a well timed visit might reveal something more. Chris.
