On a trip through Simpson's today a new(ish) rope was found "hung up" on Storm Pot. This appeared abandoned due to a failed pull down.
PM me if it is yours as we took it out.

All in good condition with some duplicates. All from the 80's, 90's and early noughties. Want to clear as a job lot, can be collected from the Dales or caver post arranged...
Just noticed that Braida Garth is up for sale, this includes Keld Head, Yordas and all the major caves in East Kingsdale. All very important for cave access!

Well obviously my posts were the best, especially the portal into another world from Castleberg Rock, Settle. If you have not clicked the link do - its weird and a little sad. Second would have been Badlad with Inkleton. But I suppose neither of those...
Just been informed that the pasture that contains Joint Hole, Chapmans Rising and Meregill Skit has come on the market. Due to the current official lack of access to all three I thought this may be of interest to those that enjoy aquatic pursuits. ;)...
Very foolishly I lost my right foot older style Pantin down Ireby Fell Cavern today.
Not sure where but quite possibly just a couple of meters downstream from the rope up to the Skylight sump bypass, on the mud bank.
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone shed any light on why cavers generally don't use clove hitches as the knot of choice when rigging traverse lines.
I can see quite a lot of advantages and only a few disadvantages or is it just tradition?
OK so I have been asked the question and I did not know the answer. Bit of a nerdy question really, but what bit of natural passage in the UK is deepest vertically from the surface? Not from the entrance rather rock above.
Only really of practical use to those playing around with cave radios...

Can Descent 2 be as bad as the first?
CRO was called out yesterday (9th Sept) to an indivdual who thought he was free diving the first 2m long Rowten Sump from the KMC side. Infact he dived in a furry suit, without mask, hood or weights the 30m long 1st Mud River Series sump. He was very relieved to both surface and eventually be...
Does anyone know anything about this? Is it true sounds very bad.
The Spanish police and fire service carried out a dramatic rescue operation Sunday for 29 day-trippers who got lost in the depths of a cave on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Six of the tourists were still missing Sunday...
Blatant advert but CRO is trying to sell one of its vehicles as it has just taken delivery of a shiny new 130 Land Rover after much fund raising.
So a good home is needed for the old CRO 1 Land Rover 110 which has only done 10,750 miles from new. Has a full service history and is in a great all...
