    Croesor Warning

Just did a through trip (1st Aug) and the Red rope on the first abseil has a damaged (severed) sheath about 12 metres down. A 10 person group in front of us reported it as the 7th person went down! Therefore, we used our own rope for that pitch (as did the last two of the other group as they...

    Vallis Quarry Cave (Cheese Cave)

I wandered into Vallis Vale over the Xmas period and noticed that a (very well made) gate has been fixed over Cheese Cave, with a padlock. Does anyone know anything about this? (at first glance it didn't look like a CSCC lock). Despite being born and growing up in Frome I have never actually...

    Another light option

Whilst in Ireland at Easter I came across a Headlamp from a Polish company - A Mactronic Trinity 375Lm. On a (bit of a) whim decided to buy one to try - 99 euro. (made it a present for the other half who decided she needed a new lamp!) After a few trips it seems remarkably good, very bright...

    MRO kit in Swildons

Did a trip in Swildon's last night and found a small pile of MRO gear below "eye of needle" First aid and such. Not in a sack just stacked loose. Debated whether to retrieve it, but decided it might have been strategically placed for a reason ?? Also found a small BDH near the entrance, which...

    CRTT 25/02/2012 report & question

Hi 5 of us did the through trip on Saturday starting at Cwm Orthin walking past the Rhosydd adit and over to Croesor. First time for all of us, so a little time was taken route finding and tackling the obstacles, but 30+ years of caving experience certainly helps. Rather than give the standard...

    Brown's Folly mine

Hi Can anyone tell me the current situation re access to Brown's Folly? the CSCC entry is a little ambiguous, is the it the new AWT entrance that is closed pending a Mine report or is it the old entrance as well? My club has a key, but didn't want a wasted trip there if the key doesn't provide...

    Dallimore's

A trip on 7/12/09 to Dallimore's found that the passage after the avens described as "a muddy crawl" is now at least half full of mud and cobbles, obviously washed in by recent heavy rains. The passage is now roughly a 10" equilateral triangle and will need a fair bit of digging out to clear it...

Hi anyone know where I can get hold of a survey? - mine stranded in a box, in storage (moving house). Proving my total lack of forward planning. It's sitting just next to my copy of the Caves of South Wales. Trip planned for 4th July, so need to get hold of a copy PDQ. Memory not that good to...
