What size bag do I need to take kit on a plane

do you know why they were confiscated? And why the checked in one was alright? I've always thought batteries had to go in hand luggage

    Bernie's under new ownership!

    I was writing a dissertation about caves, so maybe it's a semi-valid excuse 🤷‍♀️

    Bernie's under new ownership!

I've had similar experiences next door unfortunately. There's one particular employee that makes a smashing flat white but when they're not in I always opt for tea. Sounds like Bernie's is going to have better veggie/vegan options too, so that's a big plus. I hope they have comfier seats as...

    Small mammal to greasy slab

I've had to start sleeping with an eye mask at winch meet, purely because I had a few too many situations waking up horrified and seeing the shadow of a slug on the inner tent above my face... now I choose to remain oblivious

    Small mammal to greasy slab

I do have a really quite bad phobia of slugs, so I wish you hadn't said this. I'll be sure to triple check the entrance next time! Stile is best enjoyed on the way down in my opinion. Last time I only got up it by standing on my companion's shoulders, and then my companion had no one's...

    Small mammal to greasy slab

Well in that case, thank you! It remains my favourite GG entrance, although Corky's comes a close second, with OBJ and Disappointment following jointly in third place. Your hard work is much appreciated by me!

you are. Or, maybe I'm a smaller caver ;)

    Small mammal to greasy slab

I never bother with small mammal (apart from once a year, when I'm ticking every entrance off at GG) because I find the flat out crawl annoying and Bar Pot is a perfectly good & easy way to avoid it. However, I suffer the crawl for the sake of Stile, because the fun of Stile makes the crawl...

What size bag do I need to take kit on a plane

Well I figure I can wear: undersuit, harness (excluding metalwork), helmet. And probably get away with packing the rest. But if not I can follow hagrids advice and put the metalwork in a bum bag, underneath a baggy jumper.

Too Much " Foreign Stuff " In Caving Mags. and Journals ?

Another issue with UK articles, is that it's hard to write anything 'new' on sporting trips in the UK that most UK cavers don't already know about. And not everyone is interested in digging. So articles about caving abroad are a way of covering sporting trips too (like the coventosa one, for...

Too Much " Foreign Stuff " In Caving Mags. and Journals ?

Out of my core friendship group of cavers (consisting of 30 + people) almost all of us have caved abroad in the last year, and I'd guess at least 50% have caved abroad in at least 3 different countries, if not more, in the last year. So based on that (admittedly, extremely small) sample I'd...

What size bag do I need to take kit on a plane

I don't have a weighing machine thing so it's not easy but I'll borrow someone else's to check before I fly. Was mostly concerned about size of pack too, I have a 60l bag (I do have an 80l rucksack which I fit in (like my whole body fits in it) but the zips fall open and everything falls out...

What size bag do I need to take kit on a plane

What size bag do I need to take caving kit (including SRT kit) on a plane? Can I fit it all into a 22kg bag? Excluding tackle sack and rope etc - so personal kit only. Oversuit, undersuit (I suppose I could wear that), etches, SRT kit, helmet, wetsocks, gloves, etc sort of thing. I've never...
