    Best guidebook for Doubs caves?

There is a PDF guide translated into English. I can send it by email if you let me have your email address by direct message? Unsolicited advice: The guided through trip on the Swiss border (name escapes me) is well worth it - you exit approximately one metre from a caving hut. Take sandwiches...

    New Avanti leg loops slipping

I think it's the other way round. The new webbing on Petzl harnesses is softer, thinner, and more comfortable, and also more slippy. I think it's treated or woven to remain softer throughout it's life, so that it doesn't get stiff and unwieldy. It's a very unfortunate trade off.

    Alum pot extra P hangers

Just been informed you're an anchor installer, sorry for preaching what you already know. I take back my comment about it being too hefty a job, too :)

    Alum pot extra P hangers

@andrewmcleod, in short it's a work in progress. Longer version: Why do you say that anchors should always have topos? Not having a topo does not stop you going and enjoying the trip. They're certainly very useful, but they're a luxury rather than a right. They're surveyed, drawn, and digitised...

    Club trips

Do you re-advertise meets by email throughout the year or just leave people to refer to the list? Thanks for such a detailed post!

    Club trips

I'm interested to know how other caving clubs organise club trips, if they have them, if they have "hut meets"/members-only weekends that are separate to social events, and if there is good attendance on club trips. Thanks in advance :)

    Vegan food

What are you basing your statements/claims on? Research papers? Your own expertise in the field? Why can't IBS be related to gluten? Do people's actual experiences not count for anything? It's insulting to be told "you're wrong, it's in your head, you don't need it" and so on when life, pain...

    Vegan food

Less gluten-free bashing, please. It's a real and poorly-understood problem, and it's a crap situation to be in. Rather than bitching about GF foods, spare a thought for people for whom it is necessary.

Problem at Braida Garth in Kingsdale, last night.

Whenever we called they gave us the impression they didn't want us to, or didn't want to know. So we stopped.

BCA statement on peer to peer training

National Body, but not National Governing Body, perhaps:

BCA statement on peer to peer training

At least some unions are now requiring clubs to have leaders. The statement isn't inventing a need for them.

BCA statement on peer to peer training

Thanks, my mistake. I put two and two together and made five.

BCA statement on peer to peer training

@JoshW Just curious - please could you clarify that the statement means that being covered by BCA insurance relies on leaders or trainers being competent? If that is the case, do you know who would decide what is competent - would it be the insurers?
