2025 Biak Caving Expedition

Attached is the report about my last expedition to Biak Island in Papua, Indonesia.

After further research, I realised that the creatures I described in the report as “cave spiders” are in reality tailless whip scorpions (Amblypygi, an order of arachnids that is different from spiders). They are sometimes referred to as “whip spiders” hence my initial confusion. I found them in several caves in Biak and photographed some. They have interestingly long legs!
