Made up a 24ft telescopic photo and video pole today.

Parts

Top end of an old tripod
Ball and socket head ( Amazon )
T Shape base plate ( Wickes )
Two magnetic LED torches ( Amazon )
24ft pole. 6ft to 24 ft. Amazon or eBay about £50.

Remote video viewing of high places or photos of formations high up out of reach. Will try it out sometime.

The pole comes with a screw on connector for attachments. The tripod part can be fixed to the connector with a bit of tube or an internal metal strip. Taped up for strength. Therefore the top assembly can be carried in a box.

Just checking, since you didn't mention it, that you know that you can install OI.ImageShare on your phone, set up WiFi on the camera, connect the phone and use it to control the shutter.

Once off the pole the set up is ideal for video. You dont get that issue with the camera shadow. The torches have three light levels and can be dimmed down for close ups. You could also carry the bigger torch in the other hand.

In telescopic pole mode I took a video in the garden at 4m . It worked very well. Give the camera time to focus and hold it steady. Of course you dont see the viewfinder. I get over that for photos by fiming in video then uploading to Flickr. I then screenshot the video with Flickr on pause to get the best image. The screenshot can then be cropped and edited in the usual way. Here is my lovely flowering cherry from 4m up. Of course its a compromise lacking technical perfection but as you know in my book its the actual shot that counts. If not video use the 12 second timer on the TG camera. I fancy doing some high level images in Shatter Cave. Particularly The Tor from above. Lighting can be from the set LED's and torches placed below.
