Access to Peak Cavern - a reminder

Hi everyone, this is just a reminder of the process for applying for access beyond the show cave.

Anybody can apply for access so long as they have insurance from the BCA.
This can either be as an individual direct to BCA - a DIM or, as is the most common route, via a BCA registered club - a CIM.

My main role, as the keyholder co-ordinator, is to check that the applicant/club has current insurance cover and that there will be a keyholder available, otherwise a permit will not be granted.

All applications for a permit must be made using the Google form on the peakspeedwell website (though if you have questions about any aspect you are welcome to use the peakbookings@hotmail.co.uk email address for this purpose - but do not expect an answer if posted on Social Media!) to allow me to carry out the necessary checks and to give me time to source a keyholder from the list of volunteer keyholders (best endeavours, no guarantees).

The exception to this is if you are at the Chapel and there happens to be a keyholder on site (whether scheduled to keyhold or just to go caving - some do!) then you can approach them and ask if they would be willing to keyhold for you (but you must first complete the indemnity forms - there are usually spares at the Chapel, and arrange your own call-out).

The fees remain at £1 for the keyholder fund which goes towards the upkeep/replacement of the fixed aids in the cave, and £2 trespass fee that goes to the show cave.

Finally, if you change your mind and decide not to come, PLEASE LET YOUR ASSIGNED KEYHOLDER KNOW IN GOOD TIME!
