AditNow vanished?

Still off with that 'runtime error' thing I've been getting for the last few weeks. It is a bit concerning. I'm not very tech savvy but I've heard talk of a 'time machine' sort of archive where long-gone web content can be recovered. Does anyone know if, and how, the existing Aditnow could be recovered this way?

Pick a year, then a date with a circle round it, click on that and pick a time. Not everything is archived, and some things are archived on some occasions not others, so try different dates if you don't find what you need. It's also slow, so expect that. Some dates are blue, some green and the odd one is red - I don't know what the colours mean.

From archive.org on 6th March 2023 (and probably for about 2 years before that):

Undergoing Redevelopment
AditNow is undergoing a significant rebuild to bring the site up to date.
This is a large job, it'll take months, and for the duration of the rebuild some areas of the site will be unavailable.
Temporary Forum
UK Caving are kindly hosting a temporary forum for the duration: https://ukcaving.com/board/index.php?board=94.0

Hi everyone who's an exile from AN. Yes I was also able to go directly to the public pages on AN until very recently, but that seems to have stopped. It was useful because I was able to direct interested people to my Oakeley files. A great pity and I hope it can be resurrected because nothing integrated images text and the forums quite in the way that Simon did with AN. Nothing else comes close - and trying to find an image that you've sure you've seen in a group on Facebook is an absolute nightmare after about 12 months or so! Anyway, we can keep on hoping and checking back every so often. Best wishes to you all - I recognise quite a few of the monikers.

I think this may be the site you refer to;

Just type in aditnow to the search.

I've not used it much and it seems rather clunky, but perhaps better than no access at all.

Stating the obvious., but there must be a lot of people here who know Simon personally and can approach him on the matter without giving offence?

I’m not going to hassle the guy, and I’m sure he doesn’t want hassled about it either. It has already been stated indirectly by him that there is no change regarding the status of AditNow.

So the “undergoing redevelopment” placeholder still stands as the latest update from the man himself. No change.

I do not believe anyone means offence. I think it’s just human nature to ask. With the website closing down “not sure “ it’s real name ? This has made people realise, how much the site meant to people .

It’s a good thing people care . Simon & everyone else who contributed should be proud they made a great website !

But the 'placeholder' doesn't still stand, not on my computer at any rate. The 'runtime error' page which displays makes no mention whatsoever of Aditnow. I don't wish to hassle anyone, I just miss the site and was wondering if anyone had news of progress.

As mentioned on another thread .
We have pretty much finished the development of our new site now (we've put a fair few pennies into so far )
It will be live in the upcoming days folks!
Fingers crossed it's a hit!

Hopefully Aditnow does return . But, doubtful after all this time?
We're confident this website will be able to almost match it/mirror it.

Watch this space for the weekend!

Is this trolling? or is there any truth behind it?

Chris.

Chris.

We ran into a few copyright issues before going live. So we are trying to resolve them. Like everything these days. It takes so long to get the ball rolling. As with most, this is a side project for us. So we only have evening times and weekends to work on it. It is coming!
