Advice on getting more sleep in a bivi bag

mostly I just radically accept that bivvying = less sleep. I don't expect to get as much sleep in a bivvy bag as I do normally, and I anticipate feeling tired the next day. 4-6 hours sleep is normal for me whilst bivvying. Apart from that, I think you need to consider what is keeping you awake? Is it cold? If so, wear more layers (I always wear full layers + thick down jacket, in a 4 season sleeping bag, inside the bivvy bag, plus hat and gloves etc. but then I usually bivvy in winter). Like others have suggested, I also use an eye mask if daylight is an issue. I tend to feel safer if I am bivvying alongside someone else so sleep better then, though I have had some pretty good bivvy sleeps alone too. Once nestled in my sleeping bag I feel very cosy.
