Back Again

At the age of 73 I thought my caving days had gone. My last trip was a squeezy romp through Middle Washfold 6 years ago and I ached for days after. Time to pack up and I bought a boat. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my 5 year-old granddaughter was talking about giants living in caves and I was conned into showing her Giants Hole as far as Garlands. I’d forgotten how much fun it was. This was followed by a solo trip to Upper Long Churn with a nice new set of shiny kit. Anyway, the point is it’s never too late to start again if you know the limits of your fading abilities. Looking forward to more easy trips in due course, with or without my junior cave rat.

If I remember correctly Dave, you started your caving career ready for your 60th Titan trip. Ric and myself would love to join you for a trip if you fancy it?

Wow! good to hear from you and Ric. Am now in Lancashire but not that far. Up for a trip but it would have to fairly simple. Don’t think I could manage more than one pitch these days. Keep in touch, guys👍
