Bag zip repairs

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had a zip replacement on a PVC kit bag like the one attached below, the zip used is a bike chunkier than what you would find on a jacket etc. Unfortunately it isn't a proper brand, so I can't send it in for warrenty, and would rather not have to throw the whole bag away. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I’ve always had good luck with getting stuff fixed with Alpkit.

Failing that there are lots of repair hubs that happen in towns/cities around the UK, where volunteers take their expertise to keep stuff from ending up in landfill

If there is nothing obviously wrong with the zip teeth then using a pair of pliers gently to close up the gap between the top and bottom plates of a (metal) zip slider can sometimes fix the problem.
It has worked for me twice out of about a half dozen attempts over the years.
There are videos online showing how to source and fit a new slider but a bit of needlework is required if one end of the zip is not accessible.

Alpkit is too spenny for me - the price for this would be the price of a new branded bag from Rab. However, Cardiff does have a repair hub, so I’ll check this out! Thank you Josh

sadly the actual teeth are damaged . If the repair hub doesn't work, I’ll consider replacing the zip completely as I have nothing to lose as it would be thrown away otherwise. Thank you for the suggestion though!!

I help at my local repair hub.If Cardiff works the same way, the best approach would be to source a new zip and take it with the bag, there's a good chance they will be able to fit it. Since the teeth are damaged, the zip isn't fixable, and if you just take the bag in they will probably suggest that you buy a new zip and bring it back to the next session, so anticipate it.
