Battery boxes for AA or AAA cells

Hi all,

I have a few old led lamps that have been dropped many times breaking the battery box. Plus a couple old Oldham headsets I was looking to upgrade to led.

I am struggling to find a replacement battery box similar to the old petzl ones anyone know where I an get hold of them.

Alternatively can you buy petzl duo battery boxes and if so do they cost the earth.

Bit of a crossover here but I also do radio controlled model boats.  we use rechargeable nimh and lipo batteries. The nimh come as sealed stick packs  re-chargeable typically in a couple of hours with an automatic charger (1ah/2ah auto switch-off). The packs range from 6v to 12v and typically from 2200mah to 5300 mah. The standard fitting is a "Tamiya" simple plug, "Female" on the battery though other  fittings are available. Nimh batteries do not have memory but soon lose charge so best charged on the day of use.

The lipo batteries are used in planes and are very light for the power but have been known to explode whilst charging.

Here is a website of a company we all use for batteries, chargers and led's.

Those old petzl battery boxes are as rare as hens teeth.

If you do manage to find a box - I'll second Mrs Trellis's recommendation to use component shop for NiMH battery packs.
They do packs using LSD (low-self-discharge) NiMH cells - which means they keep their charge for months.  No need to charge the night before a trip.
They're also happy to put different connectors onto the packs too.

Korky.

Chris, I've got a gutted out Duo box with lid you can have. It'll need some sealing where the cable would go in (I used silicon sealer and it never seemed to leak).

When I'm next going to see you next I don't know though. Are you up at YSS on 14-15 Dec?

Other option I now use on my Li-ion is shrink insulation tape, shrink wrap and then plasti-dip.

Alternatively, have you tried 40mm drainpipe with a generic battery holder from maplins or friends? You could also add a cheap standard IP68 cable gland at one end.

Or an 1 1/4 straight coupling with the rubber seal removed and end plates/disc cut to fit.

Maj.

Hmm! Not sure why the photos don't view. Done the same as I've done in the past.
That's better.
