Battery container (Scurion/nora)

What do people store their spare batteries in when caving.

Wanting to store a spare rude Nora (twin 18650) battery powered whilst caving.

Inglesport and action stash do a little box that can hold 2 18650 individual batteries, but doesn’t look like it would fit the additional gubbins of the battery pack.

Any suggestions?

If I need a spare Scurion battery, I've normally got a Daren drum or BDH with me, so it just goes in a zip-lock bag in the drum.

I can't imagine doing a long enough trip to need a spare and not having a drum full of food and other supplies!

Yeah. Me too with a Rude Nora.

I've used a small clear plastic food container with a clip down lid....took a while to find one that was about the right size and looked tough enough. Goes in a small pouch I wear on my belt. Mind you, only taken it on a couple of trips...seems pretty robust.

Coughlans 8746 match-case is the perfect size for 18650 batteries, including the slightly-longer Fenix batteries. I probably have a dozen. They have a rubber flat-ring to keep water out. Should be around $2.99 new.

Sadly, they seem to be discontinued, but there must be millions of them out there. I would imagine there's many of them on eBay.

I now store my spare batteries in spare torches, because they're light, watertight, and very useful. The downside is, they cost me about £40! I use single 18650s though, not very suitable for a rude nora. When I have to carry more I use a lock n lock tiny waterproof box.

The other point I’d not considered was needing to carry the Allen key with me as well for my Nora 3, at which point I think the guys saying Daren drum might be bang on

For battery box I keep a 5mm window allen key on a short string inside my helmet ...worked for years

You could always use a bit of insulation tape, to tape Allen key to the battery pack. What's the smallest dry bag you can get?
Have you done your own time tests on different settings to get an approx indication on how much life you have.
My scurion on its low setting I can get at least 4 days. Which is gives plenty of options on how long you can be underground

Apparently ortleib do a 500ml dry bag, aimed at the cycling market, as described as a saddle bag. It might be too rigid if it's like my saddle bag, which come from a more recognised bike brand.
