Battleaxe traverse lost johns anchor replacements 1st feb

Several anchors have been reported loose along here. If current poor weather continues I aim to replace them next Sunday. This means the traverse will not be passable until the following Wednesday. Those reported on centipede have been done but Dome also has some, these are in the pipe line too and may be done on the same day if nothing is dropped or goes wrong. Please continue to use the report thingy on the cncc website rather than commenting below. Whilst I'm not saying the cave is closed beyond here, the job can be messy and difficult and you not being in the way would be most helpful. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Reminder of our 'report thingy'... :)

Thank you s_allshorn for your efforts here - we have issued an alert on our website which will be shown if any other cavers use the online booking system to book Lost Johns' over this period, or check our webpage.

Good luck with completing the work.

I remember those; way back when I was a youth I almost fell off because I had flu and went dizzy whilst stepping across on them. Obviously no lifelines were involved . . .

I remember passing scaffold poles along the traverse when perched on one of those stemples. Again, no lifelines...

Ssssh the anti fixed aids brigade will be down there with a saw to remove them 😉
